This Agricultural Chemicals Distribution Control (ACDC) course includes the theoretical and practical components to meet the skills and knowledge required to be able to apply to hold an unrestricted commercial operator’s licence for using herbicides.
Participants will gain the following skills and knowledge:
- Identifying, applying and reporting control weeds methods
- Hazard and risk management
- Preparing, applying and safely using chemicals
- Calibration
- Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) use
- Chemical records
- Spray plans
- Transportation, chemical management and storage
Training and assessment is conducted at Site Skills Training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted at the premises of industry clients providing there are suitable industry training facilities.

This course is suitable for those who are currently distributing chemicals in the agriculture and/or horticulture industries, or for those who are interested in entering these industries. Participants will be required to read and comprehend chemical labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and carry out calculations for calibrations. A basic to moderate English language, literacy and numeracy skill level is required.
All participants are required to wear the following minimum PPE to enter our facilities:
- Fully enclosed shoes (steel-capped boots preferred)
- Long-sleeve shirt with high visibility
- Long work pants
Additional PPE may be required depending on the course requirements.
Upon successful completion of this course, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency will be issued:
AHCCHM304 | Transport and store chemicals |
AHCCHM307 | Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases |
AHCPMG301 | Control weeds |
A licensing fee is payable to the relevant state or territory jurisdiction for those students wishing to apply for a commercial operator’s licence for using herbicides.
