- Overview

This Flange Integrity Level 1 course includes the theoretical and practical components to meet the skills and knowledge required to make and break flanged joints with manual bolt-up methods to ensure the integrity of flanges on pipework and vessels in process plants.
Participants will gain the following skills and knowledge:
- Flange and gasket types
- Tool types and applications
- Flange dismantling/breaking
- Inspecting flange components
- Flange management procedures
- Gasket identification
- Assembly instruction
- Relevant parts of ASME PCC-1-2013 Guidelines for pressure boundary bolted flange joint assembly
Training and assessment is conducted at Site Skills Training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted at the premises of industry clients providing there are suitable industry training facilities.

This course is suitable for those who are required to break and make flanged pipe joints using hand tools, ensuring isolations re in place, undertaking checks and inspections, and identifying problems. It is not suitable for where pneumatic, hydraulic or powered torqueing tools are required to be used.
A basic to moderate English language, literacy and numeracy skill level is required.
All participants are required to wear the following minimum PPE to enter our facilities:
- Fully enclosed shoes (steel-capped boots preferred)
- Long-sleeve shirt with high visibility
- Long work pants
Additional PPE may be required depending on the course requirements.
Upon successful completion of this course, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following unit of competency will be issued:
