The BSB40920 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice qualification is suitable for project administrators or managers, or anyone new to project management who are in roles that use project tools and methodologies.

This course covers the key principles of project management in an engineering, operations or maintenance environment. Participants will undertake a range of class-based tasks that simulate a project management scenario relating to production and maintenance environments. Theory sessions, practical activities, and written and practical assessments are conducted throughout the course.

The course covers the following topics:

  • Scope management techniques
  • Time management techniques
  • Quality management techniques
  • Cost management techniques
  • Human resources management approaches
  • Information management and communications techniques
  • Risk management techniques
  • Procurement procedures
  • Stakeholder engagement techniques

Participants undertaking this qualification will be provided options to allow them to complete their training in a format and time frame most appropriate to their previous experience and qualifications.


Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification, but a moderate English language, literacy and numeracy skill level is recommended. Participants will undertake a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) assessment prior to enrolment to identify any educational support needs.

It is recommended that participants have access to a computer with up-to-date software and a reliable internet connection.

To be awarded the BSB40920 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice qualification, participants must achieve competency in nine (9) units of competency, consisting of:

  • Three (3) core units, and
  • Six (6) elective units.
