The BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety qualification is suitable for those working in a work health and safety (WHS) role, who provide leadership and guidance to others and have some limited responsibility for the output, safety and well-being of others. Participants could be in a WHS role, or wanting to secure a WHS role.
The course provides participants with practical knowledge and skills to enable the provision of valid and timely WHS advice and assist with improving safety in the workplace. The course material covers a broad range of health and safety functions and responsibilities in the workplace, including:
- Identifying hazards
- Assessing WHS risks
- Implementing strategies to control WHS risks
- Evaluating an organisation’s performance
Participants undertaking this qualification are provided options to allow them to complete their training in a format and timeframe most appropriate to their previous experience and qualifications.

Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this qualification, but a moderate English language, literacy and numeracy skill level is recommended. Participants will undertake a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) assessment prior to enrolment to identify any educational support needs.
It is recommended that participants have access to a computer with up-to-date software and a reliable internet connection.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

To be awarded the BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety qualification, participants must achieve competency in ten (10) units of competency, consisting of:
- Five (5) core units, and
- Five (5) elective units.
