Overview

The CPC30920 Certificate III in Scaffolding qualification is a trade qualification suitable for those working in the area of scaffolding operations in the residential and commercial construction industry. These are workers who are constructing temporary framework to support people and material.

The qualification covers common skills and knowledge for the building and construction industry, as well as skills and knowledge more specific to the role of a scaffolder. There is a strong focus on safety due to the high-risk nature of the job role. This is a licensed occupation.

Training and assessment in this qualification requires access to facilities and equipment in a relevant work environment. Participants are therefore required to be currently employed in such an environment, with access available for training and assessment to be conducted at the workplace.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification, but a moderate English language, literacy and numeracy skill level is recommended. Participants will undertake a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) assessment prior to enrolment to identify any educational support needs.

Participants must be over eighteen (18) years of age due to the nature of the work requiring high risk work licensing.

 

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL may be available for participants with previous industry experience.

To be awarded the CPC30920 Certificate III in Scaffolding qualification, participants must achieve competency in fourteen (14) units of competency, consisting of:

  • Ten (10) core units, and
  • Four (4) elective units.

CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry Core

A list of elective units is available upon request.

Competence in licensing units does not in itself result in a licence. Participants are only eligible to apply for a High Risk Work Licence in the specific state or territory where they have:

  • Completed their training, and
  • Are eighteen (18) years of age, and
  • Have completed the minimum logbook hours or training record, and
  • Have passed the mandated national assessment instrument, and
  • Have met any other state or territory work health and safety (WHS) criteria.

A licensing fee is payable to the relevant state or territory jurisdiction for those students wishing to apply for a High Risk Work Licence.

Job roles and titles can vary across different industry sectors, however possible job titles relevant to this qualification include:

  • Scaffolder

After achieving this qualification, participants may consider undertaking further study in CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction.
