- Overview

This elevating work platform course includes the theoretical and practical components to meet the skills and knowledge required to operate an elevating work platform with a boom length under 11 metres across the construction, resource, defence and agricultural industries.
This course does not provide a licensed outcome.
Participants will gain the following skills and knowledge:
- Planning and risk management
- Applicable legislation and standards
- Elevating work platform types
- Characteristics and uses
- Inspection, maintenance and testing
- Appropriate personal protective equipment
- Correct setup, and safe and efficient operation techniques
- Spotting
- Shut-down and stowage procedures and associated paperwork
Training and assessment is conducted at Site Skills Training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted at the premises of industry clients providing there are suitable industry training facilities.

It is recommended that participants complete RIIWHS204E Work safely at heights prior to undertaking this course.
A basic to moderate English language, literacy and numeracy skill level is required.
All participants are required to wear the following minimum PPE to enter our facilities:
- Fully enclosed shoes (steel-capped boots preferred)
- Long-sleeve shirt with high visibility
- Long work pants
Additional PPE may be required depending on the course requirements.
Upon successful completion of this course, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following unit of competency will be issued:

This course is suitable for those operating elevating work platforms under 11 metres, such as a riggers, electricians, welders and fitters. This course does not provide a licensed outcome. It is not suitable for those who need to independently load and unload equipment. For those who need to do so, completion of RIIHAN308F Load and unload plant (or equivalent) is recommended in conjunction with this course.
It is recommended that participants complete RIIWHS204E Work safely at heights prior to undertaking this course.
