This first aid course includes the theoretical and practical components to meet the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
Participants will gain the following skills and knowledge:
- Assessing casualty for need for first aid response
- Performing CPR in accordance with ARC guidelines
- Providing first aid using available resources and equipment
- Conveying details to emergency services and reporting
- Recognising possible psychological impacts on self
Training and assessment is conducted at Site Skills Training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted at the premises of industry clients providing there are suitable industry training facilities.

This course is suitable for those who are required to undertake initial first aid certification or first aid refresher training for application in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
A basic to moderate English language, literacy and numeracy skill level is required.
All participants are required to wear the following minimum PPE to enter our facilities:
- Fully enclosed shoes (steel-capped boots preferred)
- Long-sleeve shirt with high visibility
- Long work pants
Additional PPE may be required depending on the course requirements.
Upon successful completion of this course, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency will be issued:
HLTAID009 | Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation |
HLTAID010 | Provide basic emergency life support |
HLTAID011 | Provide first aid |
The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends that refresher training is done every three (3) years.
