This low voltage rescue course includes the theoretical and practical components to meet the skills and knowledge required to provide an immediate emergency response in the event of a low voltage (LV) electric shock from an LV apparatus. This does not include overhead lines and underground cables.
Participants will gain the following skills and knowledge:
- Electrical hazards
- Electric shock response procedures
- Risk management
- Emergency equipment
- Low voltage rescue procedures
- Low voltage rescue kit
Training and assessment is conducted at Site Skills Training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted at the premises of industry clients providing there are suitable industry training facilities.
Please be advised that this unit of competency was superseded by UETDRMP007 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel in October 2022. Site Skills Training will continue to train and assess the superseded unit of competency until the transition end date.

This course is suitable for electrical workers and other personnel who may be required to act as a safety observer during low voltage operations. In most states, there is a requirement that electrical workers maintain current low voltage rescue skills. This course meets the requirement for annual low voltage rescue refresher training.
A basic to moderate English language, literacy and numeracy skill level is required.
Participants must provide a Statement of Attainment for the following unit of competency as a pre-requisite for undertaking this course:
HLTAID009 | Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation |
All participants are required to wear the following minimum PPE to enter our facilities:
- Fully enclosed shoes (steel-capped boots preferred)
- Long-sleeve shirt with high visibility
- Long work pants
Additional PPE may be required depending on the course requirements.
Upon successful completion of this course, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following unit of competency will be issued:
