The PMA20116 Certificate II in Process Plant Operations qualification is an entry-level qualification is suitable for operators in the hydrocarbons, petrochemical, chemical, metal/ore processing and related process manufacturing industry sectors. These are operators who are competent in operating production equipment or undertaking similar roles directly producing products. This can include polymer products and components ranging from consumer products, to components to be included in other commercial, industrial or consumer products.
For those who do not directly produce product, but work in product support roles may benefit more from a non-technical Certificate II qualification such as MSM20116 Certificate II in Process Manufacturing.
Training and assessment in this qualification requires access to facilities and equipment in a relevant work environment. Participants are therefore required to be currently employed in such an environment, with access available for training and assessment to be conducted at the workplace.

Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this qualification, but a moderate English language, literacy and numeracy skill level is recommended. Participants will undertake a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) assessment prior to enrolment to identify any educational support needs.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL may be available for participants with previous industry experience.
To be awarded the PMA20116 Certificate II in Process Plant Operations qualification, participants must achieve competency in sixteen (16) units of competency, consisting of:
- Five (5) core units, and
- Eleven (11) elective units.
