Overview

This quick cut saw course includes the theoretical and practical components to meet the skills and knowledge required to saw and cut concrete pavements to initiate planned cracks for road pavement operators in the civil construction industry.

Participants will gain the following skills and knowledge:

  • Planning and preparing to saw and cut
  • Selecting and operating a concrete saw
  • Cleaning up after operations

Training and assessment are conducted at Site Skills Training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted at the premises of industry clients providing there are suitable industry training facilities.

Please be advised that the unit of competency RIICRC319D Saw and cut concrete pavements to initiate planned cracks was superseded by RIICRC319E Saw and cut concrete pavements to initiate planned cracks in January 2021. Site Skills Training will continue to train and assess the superseded unit of competency until the transition end date.

This course is designed for persons who use a quick cut saw for cutting concrete.

A basic to moderate English language, literacy and numeracy skill level is required.

All participants are required to wear the following minimum PPE to enter our facilities:

  • Fully enclosed shoes (steel-capped boots preferred)
  • Long-sleeve shirt with high visibility
  • Long work pants

Additional PPE may be required depending on the course requirements.

Upon successful completion of this course, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency will be issued:

RIICRC319D  Saw and cut concrete pavements to initiate planned cracks
