This use high-pressure water cleaning course includes the theoretical and practical components to meet the skills and knowledge required to use high-pressure water jetting equipment.
Participants will gain the following skills and knowledge:
- Using high-pressure water jetting equipment
- Following emergency response procedures
- Working safely
- Working in accordance with an issued permit
Training and assessment are conducted at Site Skills Training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted at the premises of industry clients providing there are suitable industry training facilities.

This skill set is suitable for those who are using high pressure water jetting equipment under the supervision of a competent operator for tasks such as cleaning, preparing, abrading, cutting or demolishing concrete, steel or other plant, equipment, vessels or infrastructure. It is not suitable for competent operators who operate independently.
A basic to moderate English language, literacy and numeracy skill level is required.
All participants are required to wear the following minimum PPE to enter our facilities:
- Fully enclosed shoes (steel-capped boots preferred)
- Long-sleeve shirt with high visibility
- Long work pants
Additional PPE may be required depending on the course requirements.
Upon successful completion of this course, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency will be issued:
MSMWJ202 | Use high-pressure water jetting equipment |
MSMPER200 | Work in accordance with an issued permit |
MSMWHS110 | Follow emergency response procedures |
MSMWHS200 | Work safely |
AS/NZS 4233.1:201 3 High pressure water jetting systems – Safe operation and maintenance states that verification of competency or refresher training on high pressure water jetting operations shall be carried out and documented at appropriate intervals not exceeding two (2) years to ensure the continued competency of operators.
