This working at heights training course includes the theoretical and practical components to meet the skills and knowledge required to work at heights safely and competently in operational roles, primarily in the resources and infrastructure industries.
Participants will gain the following skills and knowledge:
- Assessing hazards and risks
- Selecting, wearing and caring for personal protective equipment
- Safety systems including fall protection
- Legislation, policies and procedures
- Performing work at heights
- Safe shifting and handling of tools and materials
- Coordinating and communicating with others
Training and assessment is conducted at Site Skills Training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted at the premises of industry clients providing there are suitable industry training facilities.

This course is suitable for those who are required to perform work at heights, particularly in the resources and infrastructure industries, or for those in roles where refresher training is required. Industry best practice suggests that this should occur at intervals not exceeding three (3) years. This course can be used for refresher training.
A basic English language, literacy and numeracy skill level is required.
All participants are required to wear the following minimum PPE to enter our facilities:
- Fully enclosed shoes (steel-capped boots preferred)
- Long-sleeve shirt with high visibility
- Long work pants
Additional PPE may be required depending on the course requirements.
Upon successful completion of this course, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following unit of competency will be issued:
